Ernesto Quenedit
Ernesto Quenedit (Ballet) completed his training at Havana’s National
School of Ballet and then joined the National Ballet of Cuba, becoming
a principal in 1990. He danced principal roles in classic ballets such as
Swan Lake, Coppelia, Giselle, Sleeping Beauty and other contemporary
ballets. Ernesto later danced with both the National Ballet of Monterrey
under the direction of Fernando Alonso and Fernando Bujones and the
National Company of Dance in Mexico. He joined the Joffrey Ballet of
Chicago under the direction of Gerald Arpino in 1996 where he danced in
Mr. Arpino’s pieces L’Air d’Esprit and Kettentanz. Ernesto performed as a
principal with Arizona Ballet in 1999 and the Don Quixote Pas de Deux
introduced him to audiences of BalletMet in Columbus in 2000. Ernesto
danced for three seasons with the Chicago Lyric Opera in performances
such as Samson and Delilah and Romeo and Juliet. He has been a guest
artist with many ballet companies nationally, including Tulsa Ballet, Peoria
Ballet, Salt Creek Ballet and Ballet International in Indianapolis. Ernesto
toured Latin America, Europe and Asia with the National Ballet of Cuba.
Most recently, he has been a guest teacher with the Ballet de Monterrey
Mexico under the direction of Robert Hill.
