Carl
Corry
Mr. Corry
enjoyed a 20-year career with the Joffrey Ballet in New York City,
starting as a scholarship student and rising to Assistant Ballet Master
between
1975 and 1995. During his years with the
Joffrey he studied ballet with Maestro Vincenzo Celli, Robert
Joffrey,Nina
Stroganova, and Margot Fonteyn. Mr. Corry has also choreographed works
for
the Joffrey II dancers in New York.
Former leading dancer with the Joffrey Ballet, Carl Corry has been
enjoyed
by audiences in many performances that required classical, modern and
jazz
techniques. His performances, with the Joffrey Ballet, have taken him
on 17
national tours of the United States. Including, Kennedy Center
performances for
two different U.S. Presidents. Foreign tours include, Canada, Mexico,
France,
Italy, Spain, Germany, Austria, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Austrailia, and
Denmark.
In 1995 and '96 Mr. Corry staged two ballets by Antony Tudor and
created new
works, to critical aclaim for the St. Louis Ballet.
Mr. Corry has been a guest teacher and choreographer to ballet companies
and Universities across the country since 1988 and has served as a
faculty
member of the Joffrey Ballet School and American Ballet Theater school
summer
intensive workshops. Mr. Corry also received a Best Choreography award
in the
national finals of Dance America 2001.
In 1998 Mr. Corry began the certification program for Pilates with
Juanita Lopez
at the Pilates Studio of the Midwest in Chicago while teaching ballet
locally.
During the 600 hour program Mr. Corry was offered full time employment
from
the Pilates Studio of the Midwest, (1999-2000). In the fall of 2000 he
and his
wife Elise launched their own studio, Pilates Fitness Inc. His
experience as
a professional dancer for more than 23 years plus the combined teaching
of
classical ballet and the Pilates Method gives Mr. Corry an extensive
background
in the art and technique of movement, form and overall physical fitness.
